Kacey Musgraves Jacket

In celebration of Kacey Musgraves sold out Seattle leg of the Deeper Well World Tour, Climate Pledge Arena commissioned a custom FIlson jacket for Kacey. The client directive for this work was to design a piece that fit Kacey’s brand, album, and personal style.

Process & Approach:

The challenge that shaped this work was its condensed timeline. The quick turn deliverable meant the work needed to be researched, designed, approved by the client and then produced within a week and a half.

After a thorough research build of Kacey’s brand expression and public style, I pulled in some historical fashion references from Western wear and Eastern European Cottage core and landed on a layered look using line and shape to focus the design. The clever placement of assets on the jacket allowed the piece to look full but cut down on painting time.

Each asset on the jacket refers to a specific line or theme present in on the Deeper Well album- some of those are easy to spot (the cardinal) while others are deeper cuts just for Kacey.

The color palette marries the red of the Deeper Well album artwork to an ocean blue to symbolize Seattle.
